The real reasons behind the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone the general elections have emerged.
Chairman of the commission, Attahiru Jega, who has been under immense pressure lately, made the announcement for the shifts in election dates, yesterday, at a world press conference, invoking the provisions of the following in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended: Section 76(2), Section 116(2), Section 132(2) Section 178(2).

Jonathan’s response to the 5 Strong Questions from Obasanjo

A seemingly remorseful President Goodluck Jonathan, could only plead for understanding and corporation when he visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to seek for his blessings ahead of the February 14, 2015 presidential election.
It was gathered that Jonathan, in the presence of the respected pastors present at the meeting, appealed for the support of Obasanjo, choosing not to respond to some of the questions posed to him.

Jonathan’s impeachment is mere rumour and figment of imagination – Senators

As the impeachment threat in the Senate against President Goodluck Jonathan gains momentum some senators have described the threat as a mere rumour.
It would be recalled that last week, 63 senators with some members of the House of Representatives (reportedly 200) appended their signatures to an impeachment notice for President Jonathan.
LEADERSHIP recalls that last week chairman Senate Committee on Media and senate spokesman, Enyinnaya Abaribe reacting to the impeachment threat described it “as rumour and figment of imagination of those concocting it which would not be dignified with any further reactions”.

UPDATED: Heavy Attack Ongoing In Damaturu, Air Force Jet Engages Insurgents

Unsettling news coming from Damaturu, Yobe State, suggests that the capital in under attack.
According to Leadership, the heavy attack involved shooting and explosion and was launched around 6:30am.
The terrified residents of the town were forced to flee in fear for their lives.
One of them identified as Malam Abdulmalik disclosed:
“As I am talking to you now, we are in serious confusion now, gunshots and explosions everywhere especially from the southern part of the city and people are fleeing.”
Another escaping local narrated that they had been woken up by multiple gunshots and blasts adding that the attack might be the work of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
